It all started with a sketch on a post it note at a local coffee shop! She is inspired by the little creations nature has coming out of the forest floor in springtime; morel mushrooms. She is also a “morel mushroom expert” in Indiana and educates people through foraging classes in the spring. She incorporates the detail, texture, and color of the gray morel into a hand-made and hand-carved piece. Each one of her pieces goes through countless steps to achieve this realistic look, including two kiln firings to cure the pieces, making them safe and durable for everyday use. The artist intends her work to be an enjoyable experience each time you use it; a functional satisfying piece of art!
