This piece is from the artists' "Driftwood series." This driftwood in particular is inspired by the driftwood seen on the beaches of Northern California. She was fascinated by the texture the wood was creating and that it even had staples and screws coming out of it. She used these concepts as an inspiration to one of her oldest series.
