Birch Tree

I am inspired by the unique texture of birch and aspen tree bark. The bark on these trees subtlely peak through the trunk and branches. My first encounter with a birch tree was at Sleeping Bear Dunes, Michigan, and with an aspen tree in Colorado. The colors on the leaves that turn in the fall and quack in the wind are imitated on the inside on the mug, a deep mustard yellow.
